Impact of salinity and temperature variations on relative permeability and residual oil saturation in neutral-wet sandstone

چکیده

Low-salinity water flooding has become one of the major emerging enhanced oil recovery techniques where lower salinity is flooded into a hydrocarbon reservoir in order to increase recovery. It’s been widely reported that wettability alteration from oil-wet water-wet low-salinity process improves Many factors control system wettability, however, role and intensity each factor not completely understood. Therefore, several affecting on were eliminated present work determine impact different relative permeability curves residual saturation. A series experiments performed three simulated brine solutions injected saturated thoroughly cleaned neutral-wet sandstone core plugs. The effect temperature saturation was also determined by injecting 115,000 ppm at temperatures. Results indicate decreasing alters preference rock towards favorable water-wetting conditions. Water-wet conditions decrease mobility enhance mobilization leading better microscopic displacement efficiency reduced Elevated reduces Cited as: Mahmud, W. M. Impact variations sandstone. Comparison of residual oil cluster size distribution, morphology and saturation in oil-wet and water-wet sandstone.

We imaged an oil-wet sandstone at residual oil saturation (S(or)) conditions using X-ray micro-tomography with a nominal voxel size of (9 μm)(3) and monochromatic light from a synchrotron source. The sandstone was rendered oil-wet by ageing with a North Sea crude oil to represent a typical wettability encountered in hydrocarbon reservoirs. We measured a significantly lower S(or) for the oil-wet...

patterns and variations in native and non-native interlanguage pragmatic rating: effects of rater training, intercultural proficiency, and self-assessment

although there are studies on pragmatic assessment, to date, literature has been almost silent about native and non-native english raters’ criteria for the assessment of efl learners’ pragmatic performance. focusing on this topic, this study pursued four purposes. the first one was to find criteria for rating the speech acts of apology and refusal in l2 by native and non-native english teachers...

X-Ray in-situ saturation monitoring, an aid to study relative permeability in water-wet carbonate rocks

The simultaneous flow of oil and water in porous media is described by relative permeability curves, mainly derived from laboratory experiments. Relative permeability is of paramount importance in predicting reservoir production performance and drive mechanisms and its value depends largely on the volume fraction of fluids present in the test samples. Nowadays X-ray scanners are one of the most...

the comparative impact of prompts and recasts in processing instruction versus meaningful output-based instruction on efl learners’ writing accuracy

the purpose of the present study was to see which one of the two instruction-processing instruction (pi) and meaningful output based instruction (mobi) accompanied with prompt and recast- is more effective on efl learners’ writing accuracy. in order to homogenize the participants in term of language proficiency a preliminary english test (pet) was administrated between 74 intermediate students ...

Study on Stochastic Flow in Low Permeability Sandstone Oil Reservoir

Reservoir porous medium is random, in terms of oil and gas for low permeability reservoirs. Consider the random nature of the reservoir will enable to improve the accuracy of numerical reservoir simulation. Based on extensive research, for the stochastic nature of the reservoir from the two aspects of physical simulation, numerical simulation, the relevant international studies were reviewed. T...
